Kia Picanto X-Line Australian Open Special Edition

Kia Picanto X-Line aces new special edition line-up

Kia Picanto X-Line 1200Kia Picanto X-Line  – Kia Australia’s baby Picanto has got its “strut” on with a look-at-me Australian Open Special Edition hitting showrooms.

The Picanto X-Line takes GT-Line styling and attitude to a whole new level with a more substantial body kit and pumped suspension giving the littlest member of the Kia garage some serious street cred for those who want to be seen.

“Since we first introduced Picanto into what we were warned was a dead segment, this little star has captured the imagination in a way which is nothing short of amazing,” Kia Motors Australia Chief Operating Officer Damien Meredith said.

“It has not only revived the segment but regenerated interest every time a new model or derivative has been introduced. The X-Line is continuing that trend.”

With drive away pricing $16,990 for the five-speed manual and $17,990 for the four-speed automatic, the Picanto X-Line is available with the same 1.25 MPI power unit as the standard Picanto S with 65kW and 122Nm.

What isn’t the same is a considerable list of extras and specific kit which sets the X-Line apart. For a start it rides a little higher on suspension raised 15mm over the standard car and boasts a set of flashy 16-inch alloy wheels.

There are premium seats with red accents, premium steering wheel and shift knob, alloy sports pedals, electric folding mirrors, LED position lamps with DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, projection headlamps and front fog lights, specific X-Line and AO Edition badging and the X-Line package of contrast body accents, dual exhaust tips and the body kit (side skirts and moldings and front and rear air diffusers).

The X-Line Picanto is available in Signal Red, Clear White, Titanium Silver Aurora Black and Alice Blue.

Premium colours attract a $520 fee.

Also on the AO Special Edition menu is a Sportage to sit above the Si model and a Sorento, also specified to be above the standard Si.

The Sportage ($30,990 drive away for the petrol 2WD and $36,390 drive away for the AWD diesel) gains 18-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, LED positioning lamps and integrated side steps.

The 2.0-litre MPI petrol drives the front wheels through a six-speed automatic while the 2.0-litre CRDI drives all four wheels through Kia’s eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The colour palette is Clear White (standard), Steel Grey, Fiery Red, Mercury Blue, Sparkling Silver and Cherry Black.

All colours except white attract a $520 premium.

The Sorento Special Edition ($43,990 drive away for the 2WD 3.5-litre eight-speed automatic petrol and $46,490 drive away for the AWD 2.2-litre eight-speed for the diesel) features 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights and integrated side steps.

The colour palette is Clear White, Silky Silver, Steel Grey Platinum Graphite, Aurora Black Pearl and Gravity Blue.

All colours except white attract a $595 premium.

Kia’s industry-leading 7-year Warranty, 7-Year Capped Price Servicing and 7-Year Roadside Assist package applies to all Special Edition deals.
