2018 Land Rover Discovery HSE SD4 Radio Segment
Launched in 2017 the 5th generation Discovery carries on the models nearly 30 year heritage
What was once a rugged 4WD has morphed into a stylish Family SUV that is equally comfortable in the city streets as it is outback.
We tested the higher spec SD4 HSE with the 4 cylinder Ingenium engine producing about 177kw and 500nm. This is adequate for the purpose but I prefer the V6 diesel which is more powerful and suits the vehicle better.
I particularly liked the quietness, comfort and smooth ride, this is SUV luxury at its best.
Although it has unquestioned 4WD ability I feel this modern SUV will see more school run duties rather than any real outback adventures.
Priced at around the $100k mark plus on road costs the options list is long and can be expensive. This latest discovery reenergises the model and is amongst the best in its segment.
