The Isuzu D-Max is the second highest selling two-wheel drive ute on the Australian Market so far this year and is the fourth highest selling vehicle in the more hotly contested four-wheel drive ute segment.
It is outselling more commonly known models such as the Toyota Landcruiser ute, the Mazda BT-50, and the Nissan Navara.
The model was only introduced onto the Australian market in late 2020 but has since sold nearly 50,000 models in our market.
Isuzu has given the model a few touch up improvements responding, they say, to consumer suggestions.
A functional change across the range is that when you are towing the vehicle will automatically disable Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert driver aids when a trailer is hitched and detected via the genuine trailer wiring harness plug.
The D-Max offers a wide range of body styles, tray-configurations, and powertrain options available across the Australian 1-tonne ute segment.
The base model SX variant is targeted at the tradesperson with, among other things, wipe-clean surfaces and they have now added three new variants to the range, all powered by a 1.9-litre turbo-diesel engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission including a four-wheel drive version. This power train had previously been available only on the Cab Chassis 4×2.
Recognising the feedback received from Customers that the rear tailgate on ute variants may be heavy when opening and closing, all 23MY ute models now feature Tailgate Assist; a gas-strut system which allows for easy one-hand operation of the tailgate.

INTERIOR ENHANCEMENTS
On debut in 2020, the D-MAX was quickly recognised as one of the most comfortable and ergonomic interiors within the 1-tonne ute segment. In keeping with that focus, Isuzu designers have introduced an updated selection of seat upholstery trims to the range; high-grade cloth on LS-M and LS-U, and leather-accented trim on the LS-U+ and X-TERRAIN—with signature X-TERRAIN red stitching reserved for the latter. With more families turning to utes as default dual-purpose family vehicles, the SX Crew Cab Ute and Crew Cab Chassis both receive an additional 2.1Amp USB port in the second row—for charging mobile and tablet devices—matching the offering in the other grades.
