The Radford Type 62-2 Pikes Peak Edition finished first in the Exhibition Class at the 101st running of the iconic hill climb event, which took place on Sunday 25 June 2023. Finishing first in its class, with an impressive time of 09:37.326, the Radford was expertly piloted

by Tanner Foust, renowned Rally and Race Car Driver. Tanner has been a Pikes Peak champion before and yet has never been able to break the fabled Ten minute mark, till now.

Ant Anstead, Radford CEO & Co-Founder: “It has been fantastic to see our Pikes Peak Edition take on the iconic mountain with such a fantastic result, we are so incredibly excited to have finished first in Class.

Radford Type 62-2 Pikes Peak Edition

Pikes Peak is the quintessential American hill climb so it made perfect sense for Radford to create a bespoke one-off model for the occasion, and it has been great to work alongside so many international partners to achieve this great result.”

Tanner Foust: “Pikes Peak is such an iconic event and getting to be a part of the Radford Type 62-2 Pikes Peak project has been such an honour. We knew the car was special after the first test sessions, and I am incredibly pleased we were able to transfer that performance into race day results.”

The entire project has seen input from partners across the globe, all coming together in just a few short months to take the project from conception through to development with a race winning result on the mountain. Key to this success has been the support of partners like JUBU Performance who built a bespoke drive train, capable of higher performance and sequential shifting.

The one-off drivetrain produces 710HP from the supercharged 3.5L V6 DOHC engine and features a paddle shift sequential gearbox, allowing the car to achieve a top speed of 160mph and an impressive 0-60mph sprint in under 2.2 seconds.

In order to optimise the enhanced performance, Radford worked closely with Mobil1 who curated an oil mix, tailored to the Pikes Peak Edition, and developed specifically to drive performance in the high altitude climate of Pikes Peak.

The car also featured a new soft compound Yokohama tyre, created specifically to cope with the demands of the race. Lead engineer in the project was Joe Scarbo who helped spearhead this winning race car.
