Chrysler’s 2015 300 has arrived, offering unmistakable styling and world-class engineering, quality and technology that is designed to exceed expectations and rival luxury competitors in premium segments.
The new Chrysler 300 stands apart from the luxury crowd, offering a long list of premium inclusions on every model, including a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission, award-winning Uconnect system complete with satellite navigation, and an all-new 7-inch full colour driver information display (DID).
Ensuring the drive is just as impressive, the chassis of the 2015 Chrysler 300 has been designed, engineered and fine-tuned to deliver world-class performance and efficiencies, thanks to it’s advanced technological solutions.
Inside the new Chrysler 300, passengers will be immersed in a sophisticated blend of hand-sculpted, high-quality and innovative material choices – inspired by American cities – precision craftsmanship, state-of-the-art technology and thoughtful, clever features.
One of the most noticeable interior refinements on the new Chrysler 300 is the Rotary E-shift dial, which changes gears electronically rather than mechanically. Unlike a traditional transmission shifter, the Rotary E-shift sits close to the centre console surface, is ergonomically positioned and remains out of the way of the instrument panel’s centre stack. At the back of the centre console, two USB charging ports have been added for additional mobile device convenience.
A seven-inch instrument cluster display is integrated seamlessly alongside blue-backlit analogue instruments, and features a full-colour display which allows for customised vehicle information in the format the driver prefers. Via steering-wheel controls, the display can toggle between vehicle speed, turn-by-turn navigation, real-time fuel economy, audio, driver assistance warnings, and safety and security functions, such as ParkSense rear park assist and the available Full-speed Forward Collision Warning – Plus, audio information and trip details.
Centred on the instrument panel is the latest award-winning Uconnect 8.4 system with navigation, which allows the driver to control audio, climate and comfort systems, including heated and ventilated seats, from the large, easy to use 8.4-inch touchscreen display.
Maximising its ultra-rigid structural design, Chrysler 300 engineers were able to tune the cabin for sound quality (as well as sound level) by isolating the powertrain, road and wind noise. The unibody design packages material and structural design improvements, including two premium-composite underbody panels, provide more than eight feet of acoustic insulation.
In addition, the sedan’s dual-pane acoustic windshield and front-door side glass, body-cavity silencing foam, under-flush rolled-framed doors with triple seals and acoustic wheel-well liners all help to absorb road noise and quiet the cabin.
New interior design highlights across the range include:
New 7-inch full-colour instrument cluster display
New rotary transmission shifter standard on all models
Chrysler’s brand-new three-spoke steering wheel
New premium interior colours, trims and materials used throughout
Externally the redesigned fascia features a more sculptured surface, taller more prominent grille with a unique dimensional texture and chrome grille surround. The grille contains the Chrysler wing badge, which appears to float within the dramatic grille texture and highlights the new face of the Chrysler brand.
Nestled below the upper grille is an elegantly drawn chrome Mobius strip, which outlines the lower grille opening and extends outward, surrounding the new LED fog lamps. This new detail reinforces the Chrysler brand’s new design direction and provides the Chrysler 300 with even more visual presence.
Bi-Xenon headlights with adaptive forward lighting (AFL) better illuminate road curves ahead, while integrated Chrysler C shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRL) form an unmistakable brand identity.
New LED fog lamps, in combination with the Bi-Xenon headlights, deliver a more technical, white-lit look from the front of the new 300. From the side, unmistakably strong, yet subtly executed shoulder lines are reminiscent of the Chrysler 300 design heritage and define the correlation between front and rear wheel arches. A high beltline stays true to the Chrysler 300 sedan’s signature proportion, while its elegantly tailored chrome side window surrounds and available chrome mirrors hint at the luxurious interior within.
Four new wheel designs, in 18-inch or 20-inch options, provide the new 2015 Chrysler 300 with a planted, road-holding look.
Finishing the new Chrysler 300 sedan’s powerful rear stance is a new sculpted LED tail lamp with an illuminated halo, providing a unique signature appearance. A restyled rear fascia has a more fluid surface and features a tailored chrome fascia trim accent. Below, a new lower valance in black provides visual width and lightens the appearance of the sedan.
Last, a pair of elegantly drawn, polished exhaust tips are placed in the corners to give the Chrysler 300 an upscale athletic appearance.
New exterior design highlights across the range include:
New front fascia design
New grille design housing the Chrysler wing badge
New rear fascia design
Restyled LED tail lights and new LED fog lights
New range of wheel designs
With enthusiast-inspired rear-drive architecture with advanced technological solutions , the chassis of the all-new 2015 Chrysler 300 is designed, engineered and fine-tuned to deliver world-class performance and efficiencies, thanks to its advanced technological solutions, which include:
Electric power steering (EPS): New standard EPS system provides added efficiency, added driving ease in low-speed situations and when parking, and is tuned for added responsiveness and steering feel for spirited driving. Depending on the control mode, the EPS system applies variable steering effort to different driving conditions. The EPS system analyses steering angle, vehicle speed, engine rpm and chassis control systems 13 times per second for a precise performance-handling feel. When the Chrysler 300 is stationary or moving at low speeds, the hydraulic pump increases power assistance for a lighter steering wheel effort. The pump reduces steering assistance at highway speeds to give the Chrysler 300 a firmer feel, and as a result, the system delivers fuel savings of up to 1.5 percent – consuming less energy than a belt-driven pump.
All-new, lighter weight axles for RWD: All-new cast-aluminium axles and axle housing provide weight savings and help to reduce parasitic friction.
New Sport mode: The ’S’ position on the rotary gear selector enables sporty engine and transmission calibration, more responsive accelerator pedal calibration and permanent paddle-shift mode.
‘Sport’ button (300C Luxury models) enables sport-tuned steering calibration, in addition to sporty engine and transmission calibration, and increased responsiveness of the accelerator pedal calibration.
Both ‘S’ gear and ‘Sport’ button provide blistering-quick gear changes, reducing shift times by 37 percent (250 milliseconds versus 400 milliseconds) and can hold the desired gear without unexpected shifts, including at the redline.
Award-winning Pentastar V6: All 2015 Chrysler 300C models are powered by the aluminium 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 engine with double-overhead camshafts (DOHC), variable-cam timing (VCT), integrated exhaust manifolds, polymer-coated piston skirts, forged connecting rods and a high-pressure die-cast aluminium cylinder block in a 60-degree configuration. The engine delivers 210kW and 340Nm of torque, and achieves a combined fuel consumption of 9.4L/100kms in 300C trim and 9.7L/100km in the 300C Luxury.
The Pentastar engine is paired with the innovative TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission standard on every model. This gearbox provides world-class shift quality, refinement, fuel efficiency and new ‘Sport’ mode (300C Luxury).
The Chrysler 300 offers two premium audio systems designed to immerse passengers in the ultimate audio experience, including the as-standard Alpine nine-speaker and 506-watt amplifier stereo, or optional Harman Kardon premium audio system with 18-speakers, 8-inch subwoofer and 900-watt amplifier.
The Chrysler 300 offers more than 80 available safety and security features, including many that are new for 2015, including:
Adaptive Cruise Control Plus with Full Stop: Helps maintain distance from vehicle ahead; Chrysler’s adaptive cruise control has been upgraded with the ability to perform a full stop without driver intervention whilst the vehicle is in motion, hold for two seconds and resume with traffic
Adaptive forward lighting (AFL): The system adjusts headlight beams up to 15 degrees outboard right or left depending on the turning direction of the vehicle
Advance Brake Assist: If inadequate force is applied to brakes in response to signal from Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Advance Brake Assist increases brake force automatically
Automatic high-beam headlamps: Headlamp system adjusts to ambient light and oncoming traffic to deliver maximum lighting
Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM): Uses dual ultra-wideband radar sensors to aid driver when changing lanes, passing or being passed; blind-spot vehicle presence noted via illuminated icons in side-view mirrors and driver-selectable audible chime
Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus: Radar and camera technology combine to determine if frontal impact appears imminent; if so, system pre-fills brakes, then transmits audible and visual warnings for driver to intervene. A lack of driver response triggers brief brake application as a tactile alert. If the driver remains unresponsive and frontal collision risk remains, brakes are applied to slow vehicle before impact. The system can bring vehicle to full stop if speed is below 32km/h
Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist: Alerts and assists driver; leverages electric power steering (EPS) to deliver subtle steering-wheel input when system detects need for course correction
The Chrysler 300 utilises an array of high-strength materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to deliver the strength, rigidity and protection expected in a world-class sedan.
Hot-stamped ultra-high-strength steel can be found in the A-pillars, body side doors, upper front-rail section and windshield header
Thin, lightweight dual-phased steel is twice the strength of high-strength steel with maximum energy absorption and is strategically engineered into the sedan’s inner-front rails and engine box area for occupant protection
Transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) enables the B-pillar, lower header and rocker areas to use thinner, lightweight steel. In addition, nylon-composite reinforcements in the sedan’s upper header cavities and A and B-pillars, enhance crash protection
Laser brazing creates an uninterrupted unibody with smooth roof panel and rail sections for a precision-appearance and improved aerodynamics
