Ford Mustang wins Bathurst

The thundering V8-powered Ford Mustang GT4 has scored two historic wins at the spiritual home of Australian motorsport, Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

A pair of GT4 Mustangs were right in the mix across the two-race weekend, as a 19-car field assembled for the final event of the 2024 GT4 Australia season.

The fast Fords ended the event with a pole position, an overall win, and a class victory to cap a successful first year of GT4 racing in Australia for the Mustang.

George Miedecke and Rylan Gray claimed the 51st international win for the Mustang GT4 with a start-to-finish domination of the Sunday finale as they also ended the season as runners-up in their class.

The 50th global win in 2024 for the iconic Pony car came just a day prior, with a class win by Jason Gomersall and Aaron Seton on Saturday in only their second weekend racing the Mustang GT4.

“I’m very happy. Happy with the Ford Mustang and very happy with our team,” said Andrew Miedecke, the team principal of Miedecke Motorsport.

But he is already looking ahead to the 2025 season.

“The Mustang is the ideal car for GT4 racing in Australia. And we get great support from Ford Australia, Ford Performance and Multimatic to make this happen.

“Next year we will have six Mustangs on the grid and we’re also happy to have young Rylan Gray, who is still a couple of weeks short of his 18th birthday, continue with us at Miedecke Motorsport.”

The 2025 Australian GT4 championship will begin at Phillip Island in Victoria from April 4-6, following an official test at the same circuit on March 25.
