Lets talk about drivers manners or lack of

Let’s chat about Driver manners – something that seems to be in short supply of late. I had a chat with a friend that spends all day on the road and we came up with a long list of things drivers do that show a lack of manners and common courtesy on the road.

Here is our top five

First up is that little stalk on your steering column, it’s called an indicator and the name tells you everything you need to know about what it does. It tells other drivers what you intend to do, it helps to use it occasionally.

Second up is drivers that drive at 60kmh in an 80 KMH zone holding everyone up, then proceed to drive the same 60kmh in a 40 or 50kmh zone.

Along those same lines, and we have all experienced this, the driver that drives at 80kmh on the single lane highway then speeds up to 110kmh on the overtaking lanes then immediately returns to 80kmh afterwards.

Fourth, merging lanes, it’s called a zipper merge for a reason, it works the best, and don’t forget to give a wave and say thanks.

And lastly the stay left unless overtaking rule seems to be a mere guideline to be ignored by many drivers, especially on the motorways. Seriously folks, not matter how fast you are driving or if you feel the need to control the speed of others, it’s just not that hard to move over and let people pass.

Remember common courtesy goes a long way to keeping everyone safe
