MINI Cooper Convertible returns to the Australian market

MINI Australia is pleased to introduce the new MINI Cooper Convertible to the Australian market. Three variants –C, S and John Cooper Works – will be available at launch in Q2, 2025.

It was the start of something exciting when the first Mini Convertible made its debut at the NEC Motorshow more than three decades ago. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Now in its fourth generation, the stylish convertible returns with added flavour to enhance open-air driving fun.

An extra dose of vitamin D

The new MINI Cooper Convertible is fitted with a fabric folding roof available in two options: standard black or with a grey Union Jack. The fully automated soft top can be utilised in two ways. Either like a sunroof to lighten up the cabin space or fully retracted to experience the fresh breeze.

With a swift touch of a button, the fully automatic soft top can be activated and retracted at speeds of up to 30km/h. Once fully opened, the roof disappears behind the headrests for a clean look. When the roof is closed, a sunroof function is available with an opening length of up to 40 centimetres.

When the soft top is open, the MINI Cooper Convertible offers 160 litres of luggage space thanks to the special space-saving folding mechanic. This capacity expands to 215 litres once the soft stop is closed. To maximise the height of the luggage compartment, the storage area behind the rear seats can be raised using two locking handles. The tailgate also opens downwards to allow for loading ease.

A wind deflector situated between the cockpit and rear optimises airflow. Reducing noise for a more enjoyable open-air feeling for all four passengers. A new playful feature, Always Open Timer, displays the open travel time travelled by the minute on the central display screen.

For added safety, integrated rollover protection systems are activated automatically as soon as the central safety electronics detect risk of rollover.

Thanks to the tuned suspension and damping system, the MINI Cooper Convertible showcases precise steering and agile handling fit for cornering enthusiasts. Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles support steering precision and provides a well-balanced ride as well as added safety during cornering.

Pick your flavour

The new MINI Cooper Convertible offers a choice of three two-litre four-cylinder petrol engines.

The MINI Cooper C Convertible offers a compelling entry into the model line-up with a power output of 120kW. Aswell as a maximum torque of 250Nm. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 220km/h.

Stepping up into the sporty MINI Cooper S Convertible, the variant offers 150kW of power and  maximum torque of 300Nm. Allowing it to reach 100km/h from standstill in just 6.9 seconds. It offers a top speed of 237km/h.

The range-topping MINI John Cooper Works Convertible showcases 170kW of power and 380Nm of torque. Thanks to its performance tuned engine, the convertible accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 245km/h.

Expressive flair accompanies open-air driving fun

Exclusive to the MINI Cooper Convertible range is the “Sparkling Copper Grey” exterior paint finish. With up to 11 other paint finishes for added customisability.

The all-new MINI John Cooper Works Convertible showcases large octagonal front grille in high-gloss black that dominates the front view. Functional air inlets with vertical reflectors in red that frame the front-end offer improved aerodynamics and engine temperature control properties. Optional red or black bonnet strips combined with the rear spoiler and centrally positioned tailpipe complete the athletic flair.

Standard LED headlights with three light signature options offer drivers the ability to customise the car’s character based on their mood. An orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation with MINI logo also enhances the emotional connection.

The interior offers minimalistic details and recycled textile surfaces. Part of the new “Charismatic Simplicity” design language. The sporty steering wheel, central OLED system and toggle switch bar are the three key elements that define the interior structure. A design nod to the classic Mini cockpit.

Thanks to the advanced OLED technology, the 240mm central display unit is in high contrast. Making easy to see even in bright sunlight with the roof down.

Red and black colour scheme typical of JCW is a continuous theme throughout the interior cabin space. JCW sport seats with combination Vescin vegan leather and knitted cord upholstery offer ideal support for dynamic driving. A specific JCW sports steering wheel coupled with shift paddles provides precise handling and added driving fun.
