In the second half of 2022 Nissan will launch four new-generation vehicles – in categories that have been important to them but which have more recently suffered significantly diminished sales in one model and practically no sales in the other three so far this year.
The new versions are three SUVs
- The Qashqai
- The X-Trail and
- The Path Finder
And the fourth model is at the other end of the spectrum – their performance halo model
- The Z coupe

In the first four months of 2021, these four models sold some 9,600 vehicles and represented 61% of Nissan Australia’s sales. In the same period this year, these models sold only 2,800 vehicles representing 27% of Nissan sales and most of these were the X-Trail.
Fortunately, the new versions are not just minor facelifts.
The Qashqai, their small SUV, will have a new engine, and an advanced multi-link rear suspension across the range.
Nissan’s medium sized SUV, the X-trail is an all-new model that Nissan says will be one of the most advanced SUVs they have ever made with a bold new exterior, a family-focused interior, and a comprehensive suite of safety systems.
The Nissan Pathfinder, a large SUV, is all-new from the ground up.
The Z car has an all-new exterior that still pays homage to the classic Z design and comes with a 6-speed manual or nine-speed paddle-shift automatic, rear-wheel drive, and a twin-turbocharged V6 engine.
“I’m thrilled to be able to confirm launch timings for these vehicles, with all four exciting and all-new models set to arrive in Australia in the second half of 2022,” says Nissan Australia Managing Director, Adam Paterson.
“The all-new Z, Pathfinder, X-TRAIL, and Qashqai will join the just-updated Patrol, along with the tough and rugged Navara, to give Nissan one of the newest and most exciting model line-ups in the country.” He said.
