ŠKODA Kodiaq RS is a seven seat AWD SUV that adds a little sporty flavour to the family wagon segment.

What’s Kodiaq like on the Outside:
Outside, ŠKODA Kodiaq RS is large but feels small. Lines are strong and solid, replete with VRS badges galore.
The Gear
There are 20” wheels, smart locking, small plastic guards that flick out from inside to protect door edges, and a brolly in each front door too.
The tailgate has a kick-to-open/close function, LED headlights with auto on, auto adaptive high beam, LED DTRLs, and finally, LED tail lights around back.
What are Kodiaq’s dimensions?
ŠKODA Kodiaq RS is 4699mm long, 1882mm wide, and 1655 high, with a wheelbase of 2791mm.
With 7 seats up, with luggage has 270L. That increases to 630L with the 3rd row stowed and includes a spot under the rear floor to store the luggage blind.
In the Cabin:
Kodiaq RS is well equipped.
Heated, power front seats have a 3 position memory, and are upholstered in RS embroidered quilted Alcantara. Rear seats have heating, and a 3rd zone for climate control.
Driver instruments are a full width LCD scree,n with selectable views displaying a range of information including navigation.
Top notch Canton speakers sound crisp and clear, even at full tilt.
The centre stack has a fast responding a 9.2” LCD touch screen. It includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and DAB. Although the ŠKODA has built in voice control, it needs activation by a dealer.
Overhead, an Optional full-length sunshine roof and internal shade.
The drive:
We covered about 500km on twisting country roads, dirt tracks, and open highway. The drive was unbelievably relaxing and I’d happily go for a few thousand clicks more.
Driver-support systems include: Active cruise control, active blind spot monitoring, AEB, reverse cross traffic alert, and much more.
ŠKODA Kodiaq RS won’t let you change lanes if it thinks there is someone in your blind spot either.
The Engine:
Is 176kw/500Nm 2.0L turbo-diesel is the most powerful to date in an Australian ŠKODA. Kodiaq RS has fancy drive modes for off-roading. An excellent AWD system that switches between two and four-wheel drive depending on the surface and grip required.
There are further drive modes for road use, one of which is programmable. The system changes throttle, steering, gearbox, and suspension for comfort or performance.
Conclusion:
I like ŠKODA Kodiaq RS. The spritely performance has the comfort of a much more expensive car, and the space of a much bigger car.
