Toyota Fortuner GXL 2021 Radio Review

Toyota Fortuner GXL, Toyota upgraded their mid-sized Fortuner late in 2020 with the engine we should have had all along. Fortuner has been a success for Toyota, based on the HiLux the 4WD wagon In GXL version is possibly the sweet spot in the range.

Fortuner now has 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque from its 2.8L engine and it really shows both on and off road as well as better fuel economy.

It retains the selectable 4WD system as well as the 6 speed AT. Towing capacity is now 3100kg and GXL comes with a standard rear diff lock.

The GXL model is just a little nicer inside than the base GX Fortuner especially with the $2,500 option pack that includes heated leather eight-way power adjustable front seats. To my mind a definite must.

Other features include LED fog lights, roof rails, woodgrain look steering wheel, automatic Climate control A/C,   Smart entry and downhill assist control.

I’ve driven the Fortuner on outback roads, on the beach, forest trails, heavy duty 4WD tracks, I’ve towed with it and driven it on freeways. It’s a great all round 4WD.

Fortuner GXL is priced from a touch over $56,850 plus the usual costs.
