Toyota RAV 4 has been an outstanding success over the years and now since 2019 with the addition of the AWD Hybrid version, it seems to tap into a growing market segment.
We drove the GXL Hybrid AWD version that combines a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor generator that drives through a six step CVT, providing the most powerful drivetrain in the range with combined maximum outputs of around 160kW.
The AWD system is provided by electric assistance to the rear wheels when necessary. Fuel economy is excellent as you would expect at around 4.8l/100k
