GR Safety upgrades

Versions equipped with the six-speed manual transmission will now include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with leading vehicle notice offered on automatic grades.1

Toyota will also offer a new optional Performance Pack on GTS grades which enhances handling dynamics and stopping power with upgrades to suspension and brakes.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the latest upgrades show Toyota’s dedication to continual product improvements.

“These latest upgrades to our popular and affordable GR86 sports car bring real improvements to both safety and performance – two crucial aspects for buyers,” Mr Hanley said.

“Technologies such as autonomous emergency braking aim to provide buyers with increased peace of mind, while the addition of the new Performance Pack enhances the already dynamic abilities of the GR86 even further.”

Along with AEB and LDA, GR86 manual grades will also gain automatic high beam, which can selectively dim the LED high-beam lights when an oncoming vehicle is detected.

The flagship GR86 GTS grade will now be available with an optional Dynamic Performance Pack which adds dedicated ZF Sachs sports shock absorbers, which offer a smoother rebound curve and are stiffer at high piston speeds, helping the GR86 to stay flatter in corners.

The Dynamic Performance Pack also upgrades the GR86’s brakes with new red Brembo2 four-piston front callipers and two-piston rear callipers finished in red.

Offering improved stopping performance, the new brakes replace the existing two-piston front and single-piston rear brakes fitted to the GTS grade.

The GR Corolla hot hatch is also now available in the Eclectic Blue hue, paired with contrast blue stitching for the interior trim elements. The new blue colour brings the total number of current GR Corolla options to five, joining Glacier White, Liquid Mercury, Ebony and Feverish Red.3
